Project: Roof Replacement – Hampton Cove, AL

Upon receiving the call, we promptly scheduled a free roof inspection and found extensive granule loss and general wear, but no active leaks yet. We discussed several roofing options and the clients were impressed by the IKO Dynasty Performance shingles – known for their strength and beautiful color choices. They selected the color Glacier to modernize the home’s look, and, after planning and permitting, our crew began the work. We stripped off the old, brittle shingles and the underlayment, exposing the roof deck. The good news: the decking was still in solid shape (no rot found), which often is the case when a roof is replaced before major leaks occur.

We proceeded to lay down a new synthetic underlayment as a moisture barrier and upgraded the attic ventilation by adding full ridge ventilation at the peaks to help regulate attic temperatures and humidity and extend the life of the new shingles. IKO Dynasty is a “performance” architectural shingle, featuring the ArmourZone reinforced nailing strip which provides superior wind resistance – a big plus in storm-prone areas. We used IKO Hip & Ridge 12 performance shingles to cap the ridges, maintaining that extra durability across the entire roofline.

Throughout the process, communication with the homeowner was key, and by late afternoon, the new roof was in place. We took extra care with cleanup, as we always do – our crew runs magnets over the property to pick up nails and ensures no old shingle debris is left behind. Finally, our Roof Specialist performed a walkthrough with the homeowner, to point out the new improvements and answer any final questions they might have.
